FallBall is designed to prepare players for next season (Spring 2018). It remains fun and friendly with an emphasis on developing & maintaning player skills, not on competition.
As such, player ages listed below are determined by how old the player will be for the 2018 season. (Please see the Age Determination Chart for 2017 & add 1 year to your child's age. i.e. If your child is "playing age 9" for this season, he would be "playing age 10" for FallBall.)
In past years, FallBall has been played with teams from Maidu & Lakeside and games have been played at Richards Field, Maidu Field off Douglas & Rocky Ridge, Feist Field in Granite Bay, and Lockridge Field on Eureka (for Juniors).
Teams will be formed mid-August. Games will start in September and likely finish either by the end of October or the 1st week in November. The actual season length and number of games will be determined one everything is finalized between all participating leagues.
Divisions and RWLL's Spring rules are listed below. We hope to split Minors into 2 divisions, as we have done in the past: AA & AAA. This will be dependent on the number of players RWLL has as well as the number of players the other participating leagues have. There may be some changes to these rules for FallBall once everything is finalized between all participating leagues.
Minors - Ages 8-10
If we are able to split Minors into AA & AAA:
oFor preparation to potentially play in AA division in Spring 2018
oModified Kid-pitch all season (Coach-pitch to finish count instead of walking player)
oCan steal 2nd & 3rd bases
o5-Run limit per inning
oFor preparation to potentially play in AAA division in Spring 2018
oKid-pitch (no Coach pitch)
oCan steal all bases
o5-Run limit per inning
Majors - Ages 10-12
·For preparation to potentially play in Majors division in Spring 2018
Little league has adopted the following rule change for bats, effective next season, (Spring 2018.) We wanted to get this information to you now, as we know many of you may be purchasing bats for your child, with the intention of using it for years to come.
The following is directly from the Little League Green Book:
"Beginning with the 2018 season, non-wood and laminated bats used in Little League (league age 12 and below), Intermediate (50-70) Division, and Junior League shall bear the USA Baseball logo signifying that the bat meets the USA Baseball Performance Standard. All BPF - 1.15 bats will be prohibited beginning with the 2018 season. Additionally, starting in 2018, the bat diameter shall not exceed 2 5/8 inches for these divisions of play."
In summary, the bats that your child is using this year (2017), will not be allowed next year (2018), as they do not meet the guidelines.
Please know this information when/if purchasing a bat for your child this season.
